The "DETECTIVE" Blooper

IMG_2231~photo.jpg
IMG_2232~photo.jpg

(The "DETECTIVE" Blooper) is inspired by Pixar's old blooper reels. The background story is about two detectives showing up at a crime scene late at night. After having a long day together, Viktor (blue shirt on screen left) is irritated by Jules' curious yet childish personality. Both trying to gather clues and information with their distinctive deciphering methods. Viktor, (having several years up his sleeve) can just gather up information by a glance. Jules on the other hand, being the rookie that he is, tends to recreate the scene out loud. At least how he envisions it. Not knowing that it's causing Viktor's sanity. Seemingly losing the ability to maintain oneself, Viktor explodes! Jules jumps back and stares in fright,  puzzled as to why Viktor erupted with such fury. In that very second without thinking about their purpose there. The answer to why the crime was committed rushed to Jules' head. This, of course, should have happened if Jules did not break character. The intensity that Viktor's face brought upon the shout, broke Jules in laughter. Looking at the camera apologizing with little to no self-control. Viktor, like his character, cannot bear to take another shot of the same scene.(MADE IN 2023)

Scream,  Jump, and Run!

(Scream, Jump, and Run!) Is an animation consisting of a simple horror story. A thief who believes in having an easy night, not knowing what the abandoned building has in store for him. Trying to sneak his way through the gate with agility, preventing any false moves. The door slammed open right before he got a foot behind the gate. Stewart not being able to believe his eyes. A Frankenstein's Monster-like figure appeared and began to shake the floor as it walked aggressively toward Stewart. Choosing flight over fight, he ran for safety by climbing the wall until he reached the second floor. (MADE IN 2022)

B.1 Is a sketch of the scenery, Stan, and Stewart. At the bottom, Frankensteins's Monster is drawn for inspiration of how Stan

     should walk/look like.

B.2 Is a sketch of the animation, basically a step-by-step storyboard for body mechanics

ABSOLUTELY! I Got This!

C

(ABSOLUTELY! I Got This!) Is a four-part shot animation where I tried to combine two of my favorite "genres" airplanes and animation. The story goes back to the 1940s when pilots were in demand. For some, this was the perfect opportunity to become a pilot, yet even with high requests, requirements still needed to be met. Our young pilot Jules (on-screen right) has experience with dog fights and is trying to get back into the scene.  Although, the last encounter he had was not pretty, barely surviving the event left him with unforgettable memories. Here we have Aristotle (on-screen left) as a lieutenant making sure that Jules' is up for the job. That his traumas won't get in the way, costing the mission and his life.(MADE IN 2023)

C.1 Are sketches of what emotions/facial expressions the characters would make

C.2 Is the script, dialogue of the animation

C.3 Is a four-part storyboard of the animation. Each part consisting one sketch per shot.

C.4 Is a sheet of paper consisting of my workflow. For this example, I had trouble figuring out the right keys for certain hand and arm

movements. So I would write them down to help visualize it in my head.

Sleepy Giant

D.1

D.3

(Sleepy Giant) Here we have another animation inspired by Pixar's work, Toy Story. Solely focused on body mechanics. The story is based on a tiny person trying to escape or at least get passed the sleeping giant. Problem comes around when "tiny Stewart's" hat gets blown off by the snores of the giant. Being halfway through what seems to be a nightmare of a walk, Stewart can not afford to lose his hat. Especially if it becomes the reason why the giant awakes from his slumber. Stewart acts without hesitation and leaps out. Extending his body making sure he does not miss on his attempt. Failing to retrieve the floating cap. He leaps out again and this time, he does not miss. Although what had seemed to be a success for Stewart turned into a devastating error. The sounds that were created from catching himself on the ground worked as a distant knocking sound for the giant. Enough so that it woke him up. (MADE IN 2022)

D.1 Consists of a step by step sketches of what the jumps would look like.

Grabbed some inspiration from people playing frisbee. Jumping and

         expanding for a catch.

D.2 Are sketches for different purposes. I wanted the hat to float lightly and

somewhat gracefully in the air. For that, I went and looked up what a

         feather does/looks like falling.

D.3 Is a sketch of how I pictured the shot to look.

CheckMate!

E

ChessPieces.jpg

(CHECKMATE!) Yet, another animation inspired by Pixar's work. Admired by a classic "Geri's Game", there is an old man who seems to be playing an intense game. Just like anyone who is passionate about something, Aristotle still gets competitive on the squared patterned board.  Trying to cultivate his next series of moves, making sure the game ends in his favor. After a couple of seconds on the clock, his face and mind light up. Acknowledging that his victory is only a move away. (MADE IN 2022)

E.1 Is a sketch of what the shot will consist of and a sketch of Geri from Pixar's classic short

E.2 Is a sketch of the chess pieces and the ratio from hand to piece

E.3 Are sketches of Aristotle's hand movements when thinking/planning

E.4 Is the dialogue with a sketch of Aristotle

E.5 Is a series of 4 sketches making up a storyboard.

(IT"S NOT ALIVE!!!) A simple animation consisting of only body mechanics. A story that follows the same concept as Frankenstein's story. Here we have Stewart who is trying to animate a human-like figure into life Although his plans are not flourishing as he envisioned them to be, so he has to start from scratch. Picking the heavy body from the floor to the table for developments.(MADE IN 2022)

F.1 Consists of sketches of what I envision the body to move in Stewart's arms.  The limbs act as secondary actions from the body. I gathered inspiration from people bungee jumping, noticing that they are pulled back and forth by gravity and the elasticity of the rope.

F.2-.3 Consists of step-by-step sketches of Stewart trying to pick up the body and place it on the table. Serving as a storyboard

Squirrel!

G

(Squirrel!) An animation that focuses mainly on the animation "stretch and squash" rule. This squirrel-like any squirrel is on a mission to grab a tasty meal from the tree. Yet, this squirrel does not have any legs and arms to climb with. This unique squirrel has to jump its way through. I used the ball technique and basic animation rules to make it possible. Animated the tail as its secondary action. (MADE IN 2022)

G.1 Consists of sketches portraying the main keys of the animation. Showing the flow of the body and tail.

G.2 A sketch that shows the path the squirrel will need to take.  In order to get its food from the tree.

3D MODELING/SCULPTING

M.P.R. (Micro-Phone-Robot)

IMG_2523~photo.JPG

M.P.R.
M.P.R. was a character that I created from appliances/electronics. Wanted him to appear friendly, with traits of a human (Giving it the ability to show emotion). Combining all of that with my admiration for old music, I gave it a pair of old microphones as eyes. An old radio as a body where the arms expand out from the sides. Gears underneath the body (radio) to give him the ability to "walk"(walking as sliding back and forth).

1st Section
A total of three turn table videos. The first video is a rendered clip of M.P.R. with texture and lighting. The second clip is the body itself, without any textures or fancy lighting. The third video is a showcase of its movements, thanks to the rig that was implemented.

2nd Section
A total of 6 full rendered images of M.P.R. Capturing almost every angle to see the all details given to him.

3rd Section

Are sketches of M.P.R. The 1st set of sketches (left-top) are the main details of M.P.R., once I knew what he would look like. 2nd set of sketches (left-bottom) are different models of what thought could work. 3rd set (right) is a turn table of M.P.R., colored with two color codes (for options).
